The Beauty Within: PACE Center for Girls, Lee

Recently, I came across Megan DiPiero Photography and her blog post: Love That Dress Beauty Portraits, where she showcased some of the beautiful dresses for the Love That Dress Event. More importantly, she wanted to showcase the beautiful young women from PACE, that are so special to the Southwest Florida Community. Megan asked the girls from PACE: “When do you feel truly beautiful?” Some responses from the girls:

-“I feel beautiful when I’m at peace”

-“I feel beautiful when I take pride in myself”

-“When I’m dancing”

-“I feel beautiful when I share my love and faith with the PACE girls”

This question is great not only for those young women at the PACE Center for Girls, but for every female out there.  When you look at yourself in the mirror, what do you see? Do you find yourself to be beautiful? We as women can be so quick to define beauty, all having our own ideas about what real beauty looks like.  Many women, such as myself, have an image/representation of what real beauty is; yet I find that image to be very unrealistic.  I tend to look on the outward appearance, but found it’s more realistic to look at the heart.

Beauty is not just what we see on the outside, beauty is more than skin deep.  Physical beauty is superficial and does not define the beauty in a person. Inside of every person is more than their looks; everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it. “Beauty is not just a visual experience; it’s in our voice, our stride, and the energy of our smiles.”  Beauty is in the compassion of a person’s heart, the stride in their journey, and the warmth of their touch.

The people that I surround myself with are all beautiful; they shine from the inside out.  One of my closest friends Ali just had graduated with a Masters degree (posting a picture on Facebook); the intensity of her smile, the enormous sense of accomplishment, and the strength to reach her goals defined her beauty that day.
