The name Atilus – adopted and changed after a short period from the founding name “Unique ID Web Design” – was a change implemented by necessity and fate.
Out of necessity, Zach Katkin (CEO & Co-Founder) selected it upon seeing a list of domain names Harry Casimir (Director of Operations & Co-Founder) had purchased. Zach suggested it as the new name for the company right then.
It was an instant “yes” from everyone involved.
By fate, upon further research and inquiry it was discovered that Atilus was a peaceful warrior, who fought as a gladiator in ancient Rome, overcoming seemingly insurmoun
table odds to free himself and become successful. But, perhaps most importantly, Atilus was also the name of Harry’s grandfather. While growing up in rural Haiti on a small farm in the Northwest countryside, Harry’s grandfather taught Harry and his siblings how to lead by example and how to respect others. He also imparted the importance of continuing education and insistence that all work should be done with precision and dedication, while exceeding the expectations of those around him. Much like the gladiator, both Harry and his grandfather overcame tremendous odds to become successful.
And that is the origin of Atilus.
The values that were passed down by Harry’s grandfather are the same values lived and breathed every day at Atilus. Providing a humble, productive work environment encourages everyone involved to continually enhance their knowledge and education. Atilus provides a very technical service that through the process, communication and respect, is easily accessible by all clients.
Demanding excellence, a rule both the Gladiator and Harry’s grandfather lived by, is the model that Atilus strives for with each of the services we provide—all to add to each clients’ bottom line.
